About FACS5

FACS5 is a complete point of sale, inventory control, merchandising, and accounting system specifically designed for the retail furniture and appliance industry.

FACS5 operates on IBM AS/400 midrange computer systems. There are 12 models of the AS/400 available to meet the needs of any size retail furniture or appliance business. The AS/400 has a built-in relational database, features superior speed and performance, and is designed for use in a commercial office environment. It is very easy to operate, with little or no attention required for system controls, operational requirements, tuning, or system and database management.

FACS5 was originally designed in 1979 for the IBM System 34. Since that time, the software has been rewritten three times. In 1985 the package was re-designed for the IBM System 36. In 1988 the software was rewritten for the AS/400 to take advantage of the built-in relational database and speed/performance characteristics of the RPG/400 programming language. In 1997 the package was re-designed to include Year 2000 Compliance.

FACS5 is designed to be user friendly and allows users to enter and find information easily. All modules allow for multiple search methods of the database. For example, a specific inventory item can be retrieved by using SKU Number, Department Number, Manufacturer’s Item Number, Manufacturer’s Name, item description, or any of these combined.
